Auburn football lands 3-star QB Gary Chatman for 2027 recruiting class

AUBURN — Alex Golesh's first recruiting class with Auburn football continues to grow, as 2027 three-star quarterback Gary Chatman Jr. announced his commitment to the Tigers on Saturday, May 9.

A consensus three-star, Chatman's the sixth commitment in Auburn's 2027 class, and its fourth commit since its A-Day spring game in mid-April. He was previously committed to Wake Forest, backing off his pledge to the Demon Deacons four days prior.

A first-year starter at Brookwood (Ga.) High School last fall, Chatman appeared in 10 games and led his team to a second-round appearance in the Georgia Class 6A playoff, completing 59.7% of his passes for 1,494 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 418 yards and five touchdowns on 35 carries.

With Chatman, Auburn's latest recruiting class does a little more leapfrogging in the national rankings, moving from 43rd to 31st based on 247Sports' class calculator. It also moves up four spots in the SEC, from 15th to 11th.
