Guy Moon, the Emmy-nominated composer who wrote music for several beloved Nickelodeon shows including The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, and SpongeBob SquarePants, has died. He was 63.

Moon was killed Thursday morning in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, according to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner. He succumbed to "traumatic injuries" sustained in the car accident, as confirmed by his family in a Facebook statement on Saturday.

"We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon," their post began. "We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted."

Moon was the mind behind the music of many popular animated Nickelodeon titles, including Butch Hartman's The Fairly OddParents series and its various movie spinoffs. An Annie Award–winning writer, Moon also served as the composer on two other Hartman-created series, penning the earworm-y theme for Danny Phantom and music for T.U.F.F. Puppy.

Hartman paid tribute to his frequent collaborator in a Saturday Instagram Stories post, writing, "I have no words yet because there are none adequate enough...Guy was my friend. My brother. My family. My heart is broken."

He also served as a music writer for Big Time Rush, Netflix’s Johnny Test reboot, Back at the Barnyard, Cow and Chicken, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.

Outside of TV and animation, Moon composed scores for several films, including 2017’s The Crash, 1995's The Brady Bunch Movie, and 1996's A Very Brady Sequel, and contributed to the soundtracks for Minority Report, Fight Club, and Mystic Pizza.
