A Palmyra man was sentenced to a minimum of 16 months in a state corrections facility for stabbing a woman who'd asked for help after having a seizure.
James Remmick, 55, was sentenced Wednesday, May 6, before Lebanon County Court of Common Pleas Judge Bradford Charles on charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Remmick pleaded guilty on Feb. 18 as part of an agreement with the Lebanon County District Attorney's Office.
During the sentencing hearing, Remmick told Charles that he poked the victim with something that was on his key chain, but denied stabbing anyone intentionally.
"With all due respect, she was hospitalized and there was blood all over the place," Charles responded.

"While making my way to the area of the apartment that the (victim) was located in, I noticed blood trails on the floor and smears of blood on the walls made by someone's hands/fingers," police said in court documents.
The victim told officers that she had a seizure early in the morning of Aug. 16 that lasted about 15 minutes. After the victim came to, she asked Remmick to use his cell phone to get her a ride to the hospital for treatment.
The victim stated that Remmick would not allow her to use his phone, so she attempted to get his phone out of his pocket by pulling the blue lanyard that was attached to Remmick's keys.

"(The victim) advised that once Remmick's keys hit the floor, he picked up the keys, which had a black and white digital camo folding knife attached to it," police said in court documents. "(The victim) stated that Remmick got on top of her, flipped open the knife, and stabbed her in the left thigh and right calf."
Life Lion EMS transported the victim to the Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center for treatment.
Police spoke to two other witnesses in the residence who said they only saw Remmick on top of the victim. According to court documents, neither witness knew a knife was involved "until they saw blood."
