Teyana Taylor is responding to criticism over celebrating a fellow actress' Oscar win.
After a clip of Taylor reacting to Amy Madigan's win at the Academy Awards on Sunday night went viral, the One Battle After Another star is speaking out about her excitement. In the video, after Madigan's name is called, Taylor immediately stands up to applaud the actress who won her first Oscar at age 75, 40 years after her first nomination.
"The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness," Taylor began.
"They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon. Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned…how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity."

Madigan, who won for Weapons, and Taylor were both up for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar, alongside Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Sentimental Value, and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners.
"This is great!" Madigan taking the stage at the Dolby Theatre, all smiles holding her golden statuette. "First and foremost, I just have to thank Zach Cregger, our writer and director. He just wrote a dream part and let me grab it by the throat, and we had a ball!"

Madigan also gave a shout-out to her fellow nominees before thanking her husband Ed Harris. "Most of all, I want to thank my beautiful daughter Lily and her husband," she said. "Most important is my beloved Ed, who's been with me forever, and that's a long ass time. None of this would mean anything if he wasn't by my side. Thank you very much, I'm very overwhelmed."
Madigan was nominated in 1985 for Twice in a Lifetime, making her two nods, 40 years apart, the longest gap between individual nominations for any actress in history.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight following her win, Madigan had nothing but love for Taylor, gushing about their newfound friendship. "She is the best supporter, the best friend. I did not know her till this awards season and she has just taken me into her group of all the people from One Battle After Another and I I really appreciate it," said Madigan.
"Those are the things that don't always happen and she's the greatest."
